Seeing The Divine Within
Posted in Articles on 07/01/2009 02:05 pm by WendyToday I would like to enlighten you on the how to see the divine within yourself. It is about using the experiences that happen in your life the good as well as the bad, because they are lessons that no one else can teach you. But are you ready to learn? Sometimes you do and sometimes you don’t. Sometimes they are simple lessons and sometimes they are harder, but still they are teachings, teachings of what you need to learn in this movie of life.
To explain what I mean, I thought that I would share my story. In my early 20s I felt the need to find my purpose, my purpose in this life but with that I felt the need to get closer to god. In some of the teachings I was learning at the time there was huge penance to pay get closer to god. Some of them included, being vegetarian, celibacy and giving up allot that goes with the physical world. I was willing to go that root because my desire to be one with God was so great. My search for the divine took me to many different temples, churches and I even went through two Gurus to find what my heart desired.
There was a point in time when I felt that I was never going to get close to God in this life, because through having a Guru I had to do so many things but was not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Then the Universe showed me how wrong I was. I had a major car accident in the year 2000, the car was written of as I was run of the road by a taxi and ended up in the ditch at Natal Portland cement on the N2.
Throughout the time that I waited for the ambulance and went to hospital to get my injuries seen to and the journey home, I felt like a different person. My good friend Chris Wilson had come to my rescue and was also the one that broke the news to my parents as they were not at home at the time. I remember how upset my mother was when she learned about the accident and I remember 1 of Revashni’s aunty’s saying to me, you have this glow in you, no one would have known that you had an accident yesterday. I did not feel like I had had an accident because what was revealed to me. The reason for that was when the car was somersaulting I was engulfed in a warm and comforting cotton ball. I felt nothing while the car somersaulted even when it stopped and I fell onto the glass pieces, I felt nothing. It was as if the lights inside me were switched on and for the first time in my adult life I felt a surge of divine energy. I had finally found what I was looking for. Ever since that day I have never looked outside myself for wisdom, knowledge and guidance, as I was shown that I have this within me. I had found the God energy within me and the connection was so great.
I found my purpose through that accident, helping people find themselves.
God communicates with us in many ways. Does it always have to be tragedy or misfortune? Most times yes, because it is through these times that we pay attention. We have all the beauty of the divine energy moving through our very beings and yet we don’t see it, or we ignore it. Our bodies are merely a vessel for the all knowing soul and that soul is part of the whole universal energy. When we die and leave this body of ours we merge with the collective energy and when it is time to return for another episode in a different form we leave that collective energy and take on another form. But we will never be separate from that energy, the God energy. A simple way to explain this is “ take a bond fire”, it is one large ball of fire, if I insert a hundred sticks into that fire and remove flame, has it depleted the bond fire, No. Are the flames on the stick any different from the whole, quantity yes, quality no.
When you look at the lives that you live and some of the misfortune or tragedies that you have come through or had to face see the divine purpose behind it. You are able to handle difficult situations in your lives because you have the divine energy that gives you guidance and strength to get through it. Learn from your mistakes, see the good that comes out of bad situations, embrace life with everything you have, live for today, love yourself whole heartedly and be the best at everything that you do. That is how you embrace the God within you.
I have many a times seen pictures of Sai Baba, turn into Christ, Christ turn into Paramahansa Yogananda and Paramahansa Yogananda turn into Sai Baba, why? They might have different bodies but they have the same energy, and their energy is no different from ours, they have seen and embraced the divine in themselves and all we have to do is the same. And when you do that you will stop the worrying about things and the fears will disappear and all your manifestations and dreams will become reality. Live in the now and see to tomorrow when tomorrow comes, which never happens if you live in the now.
I have a little message from my sister, she is sorry that she could not be here to share this day with us but wanted everyone to know that her thoughts are with us.
She related a situation that made her life better. This happened when she lived in Durban, and was on the road quite a lot. She one day was feeling a bit down and had so much running through her mind that she felt weighed down. She stopped at a red traffic light and on the side of the road was a beggar, it was the end of the day and she still had her fruit in the car, so she gave him an apple and a banana, he was so appreciative and kept thanking her. She smiled to herself and then decided to give him the pear that she was keeping for herself. The absolute delight she saw in his face had made her day, He said thank you so much maam this is my favourite fruit, I am going to keep it for later. As she drove off she had tears in her eyes. How amazing it is when you think that you are doing something nice for someone, it actually shows you that they have actually done more for you.
